Rewritten to support “HBClock” version 1.9.0 updated in November 2021.
I will introduce the simple analog clock app “HBClock (formerly UBClock)” for Mac.
It’s not multifunctional, but it’s an app that adheres to the basic functions and doesn’t get in the way of your work.
This page is based on 1.9.0, which was upgraded in 2021 for the first time in 9 years.
It seems that the previous “UBClock” has been renamed to “HBClock”.

What has changed in the version upgrade for the first time in 9 years is that it has a name, Apple silicon support, and no automatic startup.
Also, does the fact that it supports macOS 11.3 Big Sur or later mean that it doesn’t work on 10.14 Mojave or 10.15 Catalina?
I think there are still many people using 10.15 Catalina…
As of December 2021, the old version of “UBClock” is not distributed on the App Store, so it cannot be newly obtained.
So, in order to use the latest version of “HBC lock” from now on, 11.3 Big Sur is indispensable.
It may be a bit severe request, so that’s a disadvantage.
Advantages and disadvantages of “HBClock”
Advantages
- Simple and refreshing impression
- Operation is stable (because other analog clock apps often crashed)
- It has all the basic functions such as resizing and moving the position
Disadvantages
- Required for macOS 11.3 Big Sur or later (as of December 2021)
- There is no free or trial version, only the paid version ($0.99 as of December 2021)
- There is no autostartup function, so you need to set it yourself in “System Preferences” (countermeasures will be described later).
- You can’t make it translucent when you move the mouse cursor close to it.
- One type of dial design
- There is no time signal function, alarm function, etc.

How to use the app
When you launch the app, you’ll see an analog clock on your desktop and a clock icon in your Mac’s menu bar.
To set the app, click the clock icon on the menu bar and select “Preferences…” from the menu that appears.
